In conjunction with #WorldHealthDay today, let's be reminded that mental health is equally vital to achieve an overall state of well-being and a fulfilling life.
The worldwide pandemic witnessed many among us having to deal with the sudden loss of a loved one, separation from family and friends for prolonged periods and termination from jobs. Some spent their 14-day quarantine in total isolation while some had to endure staying stuck indoors with their abusers. To top it all off, there was this looming fear of falling ill and dying from this highly contagious virus. Livelihood became questionable and the future looked bleak. Life suddenly seemed underlived. This escalated chain of events pushed many among us to become exhaustive - financially, emotionally and mentally.
As the world is now hopeful of a gradual recovery with the help of the vaccine, the emotional and mental battle is far from over. Wounds may have healed, but scars can persist. These scars may not be visible to the naked eye but is instrumental in shaping ideals, actions and reactions - that can affect our quality of life. If you know of someone who's hurting, reach out to them. Help them to reach out to us. The struggle with mental health is real and professional care and familial support are both primal.
